When confronting a large set of waves in low breeze, the sails should be deep along the boom and the foot of the jib and the leeches of the main and jib should be twisted off to prevent stalling as the top of the rig pitches aft. This is accomplished by easing the outhaul and main sheet, moving the leads forward (if possible) and easing the jib sheet. Shifting gears is fast!

Portsmouth

The Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system allows sailboats of different designs and classes to race together by adjusting the time it takes each boat to complete the course to reflect the potential speed of each boat racing. This is a windspeed based handicapping system, which means it accounts for performance differences between designs in different ranges of wind speed. Typical boats are Day Sailor, Lasers, Sunfish, Weta, multihulls, RS Aero, 420, 470, MC-Scow, ie, if it floats, is sail-powered and is not a keelboat, this is the class.T
